Crash kills motorcyclist in Danville

DANVILLE — The Illinois State Police and Vermilion County coroner's office are investigating a motorcycle crash that killed a 63-year-old Danville man early Sunday evening.

William B. Beavers was pronounced dead at 5:53 p.m. at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center's emergency room in Danville, according to Coroner Peggy Johnson's office.

An autopsy was scheduled for today.

The accident occurred on Interstate 74's westbound exit ramp at Lynch Road, Exit 220.

The police report said Mr. Beavers was heading west on the interstate and attempted to exit onto Lynch Road when he lost control of his motorcycle. The vehicle flipped and landed in a grassy ditch on the south side of the exit ramp.

Mr. Beavers was thrown from the motorcycle. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
