Four taken to hospital in Champaign crash

CHAMPAIGN — Four people were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries after a two-vehicle collision in north Champaign Wednesday morning.

Champaign Sgt. Nate Rath said he didn't have the names of the drivers in the 10:30 a.m. accident, but said the driver of a black Toyota was headed north on Moreland and attempted to turn on to Town Center Boulevard when an eastbound Chevrolet Tahoe hit the Toyota.

Rath said witnesses said the Toyota pulled away from the stop sign and into the path of the Tahoe, which hit the car broadside in the driver's side.

Rath said there were two people from each vehicle who went to the hospital.

Thanks for the heads-up. We've corrected the caption.

That is a very dangerous intersection. I think the trees in the median look great but they make it nearly impossible to turn left off of Moreland Blvd.

Completed agree. I almost had an accident there not too long ago doing the very same thing, expect I nearly got clobbered by a westbound car I couldn't see. This person was apparently was hit by an eastbound car on the near side of the road that (s)he should have been able to see.

I am the driver of the Tahoe. My wife and I are both feeling a little better. I sprained my ankle. My wife has a back injury. My Truck is totaled.

We had just pulled out of Menards and were travelling east on Town Center. The other vehicle was travelling north on Moreland. The driver didn't see the stop sign. If she had stopped for the stop sign, she wouldn't have been going very fast and it may have been avoided.

I have no idea on the injuries of the others. I hope they are ok.

This whole situation is very frustrating. I'm not even at fault and I'm fighting with her insurance company already. :-(
