Two men face drug charges

URBANA — Two men arrested by Urbana police for having cocaine and cannabis intended for sale are due back in court in July.

D'Andre Miller, 25, who listed an address in the 200 block of Arcadia Drive, Champaign, and Otis Turner, 30, who listed an address in the 1300 block of Fairfax Drive, Champaign, were each charged Thursday with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver cannabis.

An Urbana police report said the street crimes unit was watching known drug locations for activity Wednesday afternoon when they saw a vehicle behind a business in the 1900 block of Cunningham Avenue.

Making contact with the people inside, they saw cannabis in plain sight, and open alcohol.

Turner was a front-seat passenger and Miller a backseat passenger, the report said.

Police found about 1.4 ounces of cannabis and about 2 grams of crack cocaine in several plastic bags inside the car near where the two men were seated. Miller also had a small amount of cocaine in a cigarette pack on him, the report said.

Both men were told to be back in court July 3. If convicted of the more serious charge, they face penalties of up to 15 years in prison.
