PAXTON — The school board will begin interviewing candidates Wednesday for the soon-to-be-vacated junior high principal position, Superintendent Cliff McClure said.
Seven candidates have been invited to a first-round interview scheduled for Wednesday, McClure said. They will be interviewed by a committee made up of McClure, a school board member, the district's curriculum coordinator, a PBL staff member and perhaps another administrator.
Following the first-round interviews, the board plans to invite "two or three" finalists to be interviewed by the full school board, McClure said.
The final interviews are tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday.
McClure said he expects a hire to be approved at the board's June 13 meeting.
Forty-five people applied for the job, which has been held for the past year by Dave Snider. Snider submitted his resignation earlier this month, effective June 30, after accepting a job as principal of Staunton High School in his native Macoupin County.
