Decatur man arrested following reported domestic battery incident

URBANA — A Decatur man is being held at the Champaign County Jail on multiple charges following a reported domestic battery incident at a Champaign interchange on Tuesday morning.

According to a state police report, state troopers were called to the interchange of Interstates 57 and 72 at 2:17 a.m. after they received a report of man involved in a fight with two females, but police were unable to find them.

Then, at 5:12 a.m., Champaign police received a domestic battery call referring to the same incident. Officers spoke to the two reported female victims.

Police found Jason L. Montague, 36, who listed an address in Decatur, in the 1700 block of Church Street in Champaign and arrested him for aggravated battery/strangulation with a deadly weapon, aggravated driving under the influence, felony driving while a license is revoked, criminal trespass to a residence and aggravated battery on a public way.

On Wednesday Judge Richard Klaus set Montague's bond at $250,000 and set his next court appearance for June 6.

State Police Sgt. Bill Emery said state police from District 10 and investigators from Zone 5 were still investigating the case. No more details were available on Wednesday night.
