Johnson mum on 13th District race

Urbana Congressman Tim Johnson says he is reserving judgment on how well he thinks Rodney Davis will do in his congressional race against Democrat David Gill.

Davis was selected to fill Johnson's Republican ballot spot last weekend in a vote by district county chairmen.  Johnson, who decided against running after winning the primary, had praised the candidacy of former Urbana resident Erika Harold, one of four finalists, and is also well acquainted with finalist Jerry Clarke, a former Johnson chief of staff.

On Friday's edition of A Penny For Your Thoughts on NewsTalk 1400 WDWS, Johnson again strongly emphasized his retirement was strictly a family decision.

Johnson is retiring after serving six terms in the U.S. Congress.  To listen to the full interview with Johnson, click here.
