Man injured after Interstate 74 motorcycle accident

URBANA  -- A 35-year-old man broke his leg on Monday afternoon after he lost control of his motorcycle near mile post 189 on Interstate 74.

Matthew Paul Sharp was headed westbound when his 2001 Honda motorcycle ran off the roadway, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police. He lost control of the motorcycle, which came to a rest on a bridge embankment about 50 feet north of the roadway.

Sharp was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital. He was charged with operating an uninsured vehicle, improper lane usage and for not having a valid registration.
