DANVILLE — A Tilton woman was injured Tuesday morning when her car struck the rear of another that had slowed in traffic.

Illinois State Police at Pesotum said the accident happened at 7:15 a.m. on Interstate 74 eastbound near Danville.

Police said Melissa Packard, 28, of Westville, was driving her car east on the ramp from Illinois 1 to I-74 when she slowed for traffic and was hit from behind by Kaley C. Erickson, 24, of Tilton.

Police said Erickson was issued a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Police said she was taken by ambulance to Carle Hospital in Urbana but officials had no information on her condition.
