Passenger injured in rollover; driver cited for DUI

TILTON — A Westville man was treated at a Danville hospital Saturday afternoon after the car he was in overturned.

Illinois State Police at Pesotum said Martin R. Cudney, 20, was a passenger in a car driven by Donald Neikirk, 19, of Wayne City, who was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs following the accident that happened just before 3 p.m.

Police said Neikirk was driving his car north on the ramp from Illinois 1 to Interstate 74 westbound when he lost control. The car went into the right ditch and overturned, coming to rest on its roof.

Cudney, who was wearing a seat belt, complained of head and neck pain and was taken to Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, where he was treated and released.

Police also issued Neikirk a ticket for improper lane usage. He was not injured.
