Two arrested for car-jacking in Urbana

URBANA — Two Urbana teens were arrested late Friday for allegedly stealing a man's car at gunpoint and police are looking for a third.

Urbana police Sgt. Adam Chacon said just before 11 p.m., a 28-year-old Urbana man was in the parking lot of the Phillips 66 gas station at 1511 E. Washington St., when three men approached and took his car at gunpoint.

The car was later found in the area and after a brief pursuit, police arrested Robert Lee Brown, 17, of the 500 block of South Dodson Drive, U, and a 16-year-old Urbana teen. Both were caught about 11:40 p.m. not far from where the car had been taken. The third man was not located.

Brown remained in the county jail Saturday on a preliminary charge of aggravated vehicular hijacking. His bond was set at $100,000. The other teen was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center, Chacon said.
