DANVILLE -- The annex portion of the Oaklawn Inn was brought down on Sunday after an early morning fire destroyed the building.
People were inside the motel at the time of the blaze, said Danville fire Lt. Brian Smith, but everyone made it out safely.
The fire destroyed the homes of about 15 people, Smith said. Those displaced residents are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
The motel is located at 1824 E. Main St., Danville.
Immediately following the fire, officials could not account for everyone who was thought to have been inside, but everyone was eventually located, Smith said.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Sunday evening, Smith said, and the cost of the property damage had yet to be assessed.
