Urbana firm is low bidder for Danville project

DANVILLE — An Urbana construction company, O’Neil Brothers, turned in the low bid this morning for the city of Danville’s Fairchild Street subway tunnel replacement project.

O’Neil Brothers submitted a bid of $18,498,877.60 at the 10 a.m. bid opening, beating out Springfield-based Halverson Construction’s bid of $20,248,939.27 and Elburn-based Illinois Constructors Corporation’s bid of $23,373,000.

Ahrens said city officials will recommend accepting the lowest bid from O’Neil, at Tuesday night’s public works committee meeting. He said he expects the city council to finalize the bid at its June 19 meeting.
