CHAMPAIGN — A small but important project to open development opportunities just north of the intersection of Fourth Street and Bradley Avenue will begin on Wednesday.
Crews will begin building a 450-extension of North Fourth Street, and the project is expected to be completed by Sept. 14, according to a city press release.
Lane closures on Bradley Avenue will be necessary during the project, but through traffic will be maintained with few exceptions.
The narrow lane that connects Nathaniel Burch Drive to the alley immediately south will be closed for the duration of the project.
The $490,000 project includes the 450-foot concrete extension of Fourth Street; intersection improvements, including wider turning radii, new asphalt, new sidewalk ramps and improved lighting; and sidewalks and street lights along each side of the new section of Fourth Street.
