Excessive heat warning issued for East Central Illinois

The National Weather Service has upgraded the Heat Advisory for East Central Illinois to an Excessive Heat Warning.  It's in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday for the following counties: Champaign, Vermilion, Douglas, Edgar, Coles, Shelby, Moultrie, Piatt, Macon and DeWitt.

Also, the city of Danville remains under a no burn order until further notice due to the hot and dry conditions.

Remember to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning or shade as much as possible, watch for signs of heat-related illness and check on elderly family members and neighbors and pets.  Also do not leave children or pets in a parked car, even with the windows open, because temperatures will rise to deadly levels in only a few minutes.
