Danville woman's death being investigated

DANVILLE — Police are still investing the death of a 50-year-old Danville woman, whose body was found in her home Thursday night.

Vermilion County Chief Deputy Coroner Karla Wilson said that Joan E. Duckworth, 50, was found late Thursday evening at her home by relatives.

Public Safety Director Larry Thomason, who declined to release the woman's name on Friday, said one of the woman's relatives became concerned after she had not seen her for several days. She went to the woman's residence in the 500 block of Porter Street, discovered the body and called Danville police.

According to a preliminary report from an autopsy that was performed on Friday, Ms. Duckworth appeared to have died from blunt force trauma.

The Danville Police Department and Vermilion County coroner's office are continuing their investigation of the case.
