Dangerous heat continues

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Illinois until 7 p.m. Saturday as the dangerous heat continues.

Temperatures will range from 100 to 105 degrees across the area through Saturday, and combined with the humidity, it will feel as hot as 110 and higher in places.  Remember to drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioned buildings or in the shade whenever possible, and be sure to check on children, pets, and the elderly often.

Don't leave children or pets in a parked car, even with the windows cranked down, because the heat can still build up to deadly levels in only a few minutes.
