Fundraiser set for Tyler McGill

On Sunday, friends of Champaign Olympian Tyler McGill are hosting a fundraiser at Pia's Sports Bar and Grill in Champaign (1609 W. Springfield Ave.) to help send family members to London.

McGill is out of town training — "he belongs to USA Swimming," said his mother, Susan — but his presence will definitely be felt. The event runs from 5-8 p.m. with dinner ($7 a plate) available to the first 250 people to show.

More than 300 "I Heart Tyler McGill" T-shirts already have been sold and more will be available for purchase at Pia's.

McGill, a Champaign Central graduate, qualified for the Summer Games in the 100 butterfly.
