Effingham man injured trying to pass two semis

RURAL TOLONO — An Effingham man was injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in rural Tolono.

According to a state police report, Todd D. Feldkamp, 43, of Effingham was driving a car north in the left lane of Interstate 57 at 12:17 p.m. Sunday northwest of Tolono when he approached two semis that were driving side by side and attempted to pass them by using the median shoulder.

Feldkamp lost control of his car while he was passing, causing it to travel through the median, overturn onto its top and slide across the southbound lanes of Interstate 57 before coming to rest in the west ditch.

Feldkamp was taken by ambulance to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he was listed in good condition on Monday night.
