Three teens charged with burglary

URBANA — Three Urbana teens have been charged with residential burglary in connection with the theft of collector coins last month.

Urbana police investigator Dave Roesch said investigators recently received a tip about items stolen in a burglary on the weekend of June 22-24 from a home in the 1200 block of South Vine Street, across the street from Urbana Middle School.

The information led police to Casanova R. Williams, 17, who listed addresses on Prairie Green and North Cunningham Avenue; Tarrell L. Boatman, 17, of the 0-100 block of Rainbow Court; and a 16-year-old Urbana boy.

Williams and Boatman were arraigned Thursday on a single count of residential burglary, a Class 1 felony carrying a mandatory prison sentence of between four and 15 years in prison upon conviction.

Both are due back in court Aug. 21. Williams' bond was set at $7,500; Boatman's bond was set at $15,000.

Judge Heidi Ladd ordered the 16-year-old held in the Juvenile Detention Center until a status hearing Wednesday before Judge Harry Clem.
