Woman arrested for two break-ins

URBANA — A Champaign woman has been charged with residential burglary and burglary in two separate criminal cases.

Brittany Clark, 23, who listed an address in the 1200 block of Foothill Drive, was charged Thursday with residential burglary to a fraternity house in the 300 block of East Armory Drive, Champaign, on June 8, and burglary for a June 12 break-in to the offices of the Downey Group, 506 Devonshire Drive, C, on June 12.

According to Champaign police reports, the fraternity resident returned home June 8 to find his laptop computer, computer monitor, and wallet containing identification and credit and debit cards missing from his room.

Police learned from surveillance video that a man and a woman looked in windows and that the woman later went in the house.

The victim's credit and debit cards were used within hours of the burglary at four different businesses. Police linked surveillance video from some of those businesses to a car and the woman to come up with Clark as their suspect.

In the other case, a window was shattered at the Downey Group, 505 Devonshire Drive, C, on June 12. Police were able to lift a latent fingerprint from the glass, which was later found to match Clark.

Police found her on Wednesday and arrested her.

She is free on $7,500 bond and due back in court Aug. 28.

If convicted of the more serious residential burglary charge, she faces between four and 15 years in prison.

A hefty jail sentence for losers like this one!!!!!!!!  Get these scumbags off the streets and behind bars!  She can be an example to others who think stealing is a good way to get some stuff without paying for it!

Woman is sexually assaulted at that frat house? No one sees anything, knows anything, or gives police a shred to go on.  Daddy's trust fund baby gets his laptop stolen? Won't rest until the culprit is found.  Hooray for priorities.
