Night work planned for I-74

URBANA — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that, weather permitting, night work is scheduled to begin Thursday (tonight, July 26) to replace reflective pavement markers on Interstate 74 between University Avenue and I-57 in Champaign County. The work will be done between 9 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday.

If necessary, it may also continue Sunday and Monday nights during those same hours.

The project includes replacing the reflectors that distinguish the lane lines in the pavement. The number of lanes on I-74 will be reduced as work progresses.

It's hoped the work will be done Monday.
