Clements will be interim CEO at United Way

CHAMPAIGN — Retired University of Illinois Campus Recreation Director Tony Clements will serve as the interim CEO of the United Way of Champaign County after that position is vacated by Lyn Jones at the end of August.

The decision to select Clements, a United Way board member, was made in the past week, but kept under wraps until United Way employees were told about it Thursday, United Way board Chairman Robert Mulcahey said.
Jones is leaving the United Way after five years as president and CEO to take a job with the Carle Foundation as vice president of fund development.
Clements “was willing to step forward and do the job,” Mulcahey said.
A search committee to find a permanent CEO is being formed, with the goal to find a replacement within 60 days, he said.
