DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community College Foundation has received a grant from a local financial institution.
The Iroquois Federal Foundation donated a $10,000 grant to the college's foundation. It will provide additional scholarships for students.
The Iroquois Federal Foundation scholarships benefit low-income students from Vermilion and Iroquois County who are pursuing a bank-related field of study such as accounting, business administration, finance, management, math, marketing, office systems, customer service or pre-law.
"Through our foundation, Iroquois Federal is pleased to be able to help the DACC Foundation with their scholarship endowment and to continue our commitment to our community," said Tom Chamberlain, vice president and chief lending officer for Iroquois Federal Savings and a board member of the Iroquois Federal Foundation.
As financial aid resources shrink, the number of students who require assistance increases, said Tracy Wahlfeldt, DACC Foundation's executive director.
"The DACC Foundation is committed to building on success and pursuing additional resources until every student in need has the opportunity to achieve their dream of higher education. Thanks to the generous support of the Iroquois Federal Foundation, we can continue this mission."
