Crash causes chain reaction accident in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — One woman was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital to be checked out after a five-vehicle chain reaction accident on Springfield Avenue near Lynn Street about 12:40 p.m. Friday, according to Champaign police.

Lexus McMillion, 21, was driving an Edible Arrangements van east when she was hit from behind. The impact of being hit by a Chevrolet Cruze sent the Edible Arrangements van into a Toyota Sienna van, which then struck a Dodge Caravan, which then hit a Ford Focus, according to police spokeswoman Rene Dunn.

The Cruze and the Caravan were towed from the accident site.

Katrina Repass, 21, the driver of the Cruze, was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. McMillion was treated and released.

There were three passengers in the Sienna and two in the Caravan, but no other injuries were reported to police, Dunn said.
