Two face drug charges

URBANA — Two people have been charged with having cocaine intended for sale following a drug investigation that culminated in a search of a northwest Champaign home Wednesday.

Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz said Illinois State Police investigators served a search warrant at a home in the 900 block of Pomona Drive just before noon Wednesday.

They found about 18 grams (more than a half ounce) of crack cocaine and about 28 grams (about an ounce) of powdered cocaine in a downstairs bedroom.

Police arrested Mykeshia Lipscomb, 32, of the Pomona Drive address, and Marquis V. Miles, 24, who listed an address in Indianapolis.

Rietz said the cocaine was found in a bedroom.

Both were charged Thursday with the Class X felony offense of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. If convicted, they face a mandatory prison term of between six and 30 years.

Bond was set at $200,000 for Lipscomb, who's due back in court Aug. 27 on an unrelated criminal case. Miles is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond. He was told to be back in court Sept. 6 with a lawyer.
