Edgar County crash injures one

HUME — A Hume woman was injured in a two vehicle accident in Edgar County Tuesday morning.

Illinois State Police at Pesotum said Diana L. Moody, 42, was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital following an accident just west of Hume about 7:30 a.m.

Police said a road compactor driven by John Kime, 69, of Paris, was westbound on U.S. 36 when Moody came up behind it, apparently failed to slow down, and struck the compactor, pushing it into a ditch.

Moody's sport utility vehicle spun around, coming to rest in the westbound lane.

She was taken by ambulance to Carle, where she was treated and released. She was issued a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Kime was not injured but the road compactor and Moody's vehicle were both damaged, police said.
