Philo man arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle

URBANA — Police arrested a Philo man for possession of a stolen vehicle after the victim allegedly saw him driving down a road in his stolen vehicle and called 911.

Christopher Fry, 18, who listed an address in Philo, pleaded innocent on Tuesday to felony unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.

Fry's next court appearance was set for Nov. 6.

According to a sheriff's report, somebody stole a 1992 Honda Accord from the 100 block of Witt Road in Sidney sometime between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 29 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 30.

On Friday, the victim saw a man driving his stolen vehicle north on Illinois 130 in the area of Windsor Road in Urbana and called 911.

Champaign County sheriff's deputies and Urbana police went to the area, checked the Urbana Walmart and found the stolen vehicle parked there. The registration for the Accord in the parking lot matched the registration for the stolen vehicle.

Police then found Fry inside the store and arrested him.
