Photos released of bank robbery suspect

URBANA — Police have released photos from security cameras of a bank robbery Saturday morning in Urbana.

According to a police report, a man entered the First Financial Bank, 2510 S. Philo Road, U, at 9:22 a.m. Saturday and approached a teller.

The man told the teller to give him the bank's money and implied he would harm the teller if he did not comply with his demands.

No weapons were displayed, according to Urbana police Lt. Bryant Seraphin.

After the teller gave the man the money, the robber ran out of the bank. Nobody was reported injured.

Police describe the robber as a 6-foot-tall black man, weighing about 200 pounds and between 40 and 50 years old. The robber was wearing a Chicago Bulls ball cap, dark sweatpants and a tan Carhartt-type jacket.

Persons with additional information about the robbery are asked to call the Urbana Police Department at 384-2320 or Champaign County Crimestoppers at 217-373-TIPS.

If these banks around here really want to catch the people that are robbing them, invest in better camera technology. Seriously. Zoom in to where you might be able to really get a good look and forget about it. Otherwise, just put some cash in a bowl by the door with a sign that says "bank robbers, please just take from the bowl" and save everybody the hassle.
