Man arrested on warrant in drug case

URBANA — An Urbana man who has been wanted on a drug-related charge was arrested in Urbana Tuesday.

Urbana police Sgt. Dan Morgan said an officer on patrol spotted Gregory E. Johnson, 24, in the 1500 block of Wiley Drive and knew that he was wanted on a warrant.

Morgan said the warrant was issued in March and stemmed from a Jan. 20 court-ordered search of a home in the 2100 block of East White Street in Champaign where police found a total of 9 grams of powdered cocaine, packaging material, scales and a shotgun that had been linked to Johnson.

Johnson had been charged in March with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Bond on his warrant was set at $75,000.
