Rantoul man arrested in stolen car

URBANA — A Rantoul man who was found in a suspicious car in Urbana has been arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Urbana police Sgt. Dan Morgan said an officer on patrol saw a suspicious car parked in the 1500 block of Hunter Street about 8:40 a.m. Tuesday. The officer ran the license plate and discovered that the plate had been reported stolen from Champaign.

The officer made contact with the occupant of the car, Terrell Holt, 21, who told the officer that the person who owned the car was letting him sleep in it, Morgan said.

Morgan said the officer then ran the identification number of the vehicle and found that the car, which was full of Holt's belongings, had been stolen from East Memphis, Tenn.

Holt, who listed an address in the 200 block of Keystone Drive, Rantoul, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and taken to jail Tuesday morning.

He was expected to make a court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
