Man reported injured in accident on I-57 near Champaign

UPDATED 7 p.m. Friday

CHAMPAIGN — A California man was injured in a single vehicle accident Friday afternoon near Champaign.

According to a state police report, Terrence I. Klenske, 63, of Redlands, Calif., was driving an antique semitrailer truck south on Interstate 57 just north of Interstate 74 at 2:14 p.m. when the vehicle started to drift from the right lane to the left.

The vehicle traveled through the left lane and into the center median, where the trailer overturned and came to a rest in the northbound lanes.
Klenske was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, which had no information on his condition on Friday night.

Police had issued no tickets in connection with the accident as of Friday night.

The accident apparently prompted a collision between another semi and a car not long after.

Police posted message boards about 2 miles south of the crash sites to warn of traffic delays.
