Man arrested over attempted break-in

TUSCOLA — A Chrisman man is expected to appear in Douglas County Circuit Court Thursday in connection with an attempted break-in Saturday at a home in Camargo Township.

Douglas County Chief Deputy Peter Buckley said sheriff's deputies were called about 2:40 a.m. Saturday by residents of the home, telling them that two people tried to get in, then drove away in a white vehicle.

Buckley said a Villa Grove police officer spotted the vehicle and stopped it in the parking lot of the Mobil Super Pantry on Sycamore in Villa Grove.

One of the occupants, Michael D. Presslor, 24, of Chrisman, was arrested. The other got out and ran. Police have identified him but haven't released his name as he is still at large.

Buckley said police found gloves, flashlights, bolt cutters and a saw in the vehicle.

Presslor is being held in the Douglas County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond. Formal charges are expected Thursday.
