Part of Elm Street in Champaign to be closed for sewer work

CHAMPAIGN — Portions of Elm Street in Champaign will be closed to through traffic beginning today for sanitary sewer work.

Elm Street will be closed traffic between Healey and Green streets beginning at 7 a.m. while contractor Project Cross Construction upgrades the sanitary sewer.

No parking will be allowed in the affected area, but local traffic should be able to access driveways at most times during the construction project.

The work is expected to be completed by 4:30 p.m. Sept. 17, weather permitting.

In addition, Healey Street will be closed to traffic at the intersection of Healey and Elm streets between 7 a.m. and noon Friday, weather permitting.
