State police investigate crash involving a squad car

MARTINTON— State police are investigating a crash Monday night involving a deputy's squad car in northern Iroquois County.

According to a police report, officers were called to County Road 2850 N about a quarter mile west of Illinois 1 in rural Martinton at 10:26 p.m.

The report said the squad car had been headed west on County Road 2850 N when it left the road and moved into the right ditch. The squad car then crossed the road, moved into the left ditch, overturned and crashed into a corn field.

The driver of the vehicle, Iroquois County sheriff's Deputy Patrick McNally, 39, was taken to Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka, where he received treatment.

No information was available on McNally's condition on Tuesday evening.

Trooper Ryan Wilson said in a written release that the cause of the crash was still under investigation by the state police.
