Student has minor injuries in truck-bike collision in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN — A young boy on a bike sustained minor injuries after being hit by the driver of a pickup truck in Georgetown Tuesday morning.

Georgetown Police Chief Whitney Renaker said the accident happened at 7:30 a.m. at Eighth and North Main streets.

An elementary school student was riding his bike and apparently came out into traffic and was sideswiped by a pickup truck.

Renaker said the child was taken to Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville for treatment of what he described as minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

Renaker said he was not prepared to release the names of the people involved as the case remained under investigation. However, he did not anticipate issuing any tickets.
