Sidewalk closed during Champaign City Building project

CHAMPAIGN — The sidewalk at the northwest corner of the Champaign City Building will be closed for several weeks to allow for the removal of sidewalk pavers and the construction of landscape planters as part of a streetscape project.

While the main entrance to the city building, on Chester Street, will remain open, the entrance won't be accessible from the sidewalk along the building's west side.

The city is asking pedestrians approaching the city building from either the south or west to go around the east end of the building and approach the main entrance from the east. They can also walk along the west side of Neil Street and cross Neil Street at the crosswalk just north of Chester Street to reach the main entrance from the north.
