Minimal damage reported from fire in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — An afternoon fire outside a Champaign apartment building reportedly caused minimal damage to a flower bed and some siding.

Nobody was reported hurt.

Champaign Fire Department spokeswoman Dena Schumacher said firefighters were called to an apartment building at 2502 Myers Court at 1:24 p.m. Wednesday.

When firefighters arrived, they found a fire in a flower bed, with the fire spreading to some siding in a corner of the building, she said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in minutes and left the scene at 1:44 p.m.

The Champaign County assessor's website lists the owners of the building as David W. Barr and J. Vance Barr.
