WEFT celebration set for Sunday

CHAMPAIGN — The community radio station WEFT will have its annual WEFT-fest from 2 to 6 p.m Sunday, featuring singer-songwriter Michael Kammin, The Corn Stalkers Cajun Band featuring Tom and Matt Turino and friends, and the local blues band The Painkillers.

They will perform live from Mike 'n' Molly's Beer Garden, 105 N. Market St., C. There also will be refreshments, chalk art and face painting.

The 2012 WEFT-fest will celebrate 31 years of the station broadcasting to the listeners of East Central Illinois at 90.1 FM. WEFT will also broadcast the event live.

Kammin combines traditional songwriting with guitar work highlighted by his finger-picking style.

The Cornstalker Cajun Band members Randy Cordle, JB Faires, Kristi Emilsson and Matt and Tom Turino have played Cajun and Zydeco music in this area in different configurations for years.

The Painkillers play a mix of traditional Chicago and Southern Blues along with a variety of classic crooners and original tunes.
