UHS homecoming parade will briefly close streets

URBANA — The Urbana High School homecoming parade, scheduled for 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, will close some streets that afternoon.

Race Street will be closed to through traffic between Iowa Street and Michigan Avenue beginning at 1 p.m. until the start of the parade, according to a news release from Urbana Public Works.

Traffic along the parade route will only be stopped for the time it takes for the parade to clear the area, about 15 minutes.

The parade begins at Race and Iowa Streets, then turns north on Race Street to Main Street. It then turns east on Main Street and continues to Vine Street. At Vine, the parade turns south and continues to Washington Street, turns west on that street and continues to Broadway Avenue and the high school parking lot.
