Rail crossing work to close part of Country Fair Drive

CHAMPAIGN— A portion of Country Fair Drive in Champaign will be closed starting Monday while the Canadian National Railroad replaces the railroad crossing between Church Street and Springer Drive.

The crossing will be closed to all traffic while the existing rough timber crossing is replaced with new ties, ballast, rail improvements, a full-depth rubber crossing surface and a small amount of asphalt paving.

All north-south traffic will be detoured to Mattis Avenue using University Avenue or Church and Springer.

Country Fair is due to reopen by late in the day on Oct. 19.
