DANVILLE — The Vermilion County coroner says a 72-year-old man was pronounced dead Saturday morning after he fell out of his boat in Lake Vermilion.

Kenneth Dunbar, of Danville, was pronounced dead at 7:49 a.m. on Saturday, according to a news release from Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson.

He had just left the boat ramp to participate in a morning fishing tournament, according to the release, when he fell overboard for unknown reasons. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday morning.

The coroner, Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois Department of Natural Resources are continuing to investigate the incident.

Update: After Sunday morning's autopsy, Johnson ruled that Dunbar's death was by drowning, although she noted that he had severe heart problems that are believed to have contributed to the accident.
