Truck driver injured on I-74

ST. JOSEPH — A truck driver from Maroa is in fair condition at a local hospital with injuries he received in a single-vehicle accident Friday morning.

Illinois State Police at Pesotum said Robert E. Braden, 72, was driving east on Interstate 74, about three miles west of St. Joseph, when his semitrailer truck left the road at 5:08 a.m.

The truck went through a ditch, hit a small tree and drove through the right-of-way fence before coming to rest in a corn field.

Braden was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where his condition was not immediately available.

He was issued tickets for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle.
