URBANA — A rural Fairmount man has been charged with a sex crime in connection with conduct that allegedly occurred last summer with two distant relatives.
Champaign County sheriff's Lt. Ed Ogle said James Rednour, 39, was arrested Monday for aggravated criminal sexual abuse alleging that he inappropriately touched two young girls under the ages of 13 at a home in east Urbana during the summer of 2011.
Ogle said the activity was alleged to have happened at the home of a mutual relative of the girls and Rednour and was brought to the attention of the sheriff's office about two weeks ago by the children's mother. The girls were interviewed by professionals at the Children's Advocacy Center in Urbana.
Rednour was charged in a warrant issued last week with the Class 2 felony offense. He was expected to make a court appearance Tuesday afternoon. Ogle said he was cooperative with sheriff's investigators.
