2 men held in DeWitt County bank robbery identified
UPDATED Friday at noon
KENNEY — DeWitt County Sheriff Jered Shofner has released the names of two men arrested for the armed robbery of a Kenney bank Wednesday.
Joseph Allspach, 25, and Robert McKissick, 32, both of Lake Fork, appeared in court in Clinton Friday and had their bond set at $500,000 each.
The sheriff's office said the Kenney Bank and Trust was robbed about 9:50 a.m. Wednesday. The robber got in a car headed west on Illinois 54. The sheriff's office said the robber used a bank employee's vehicle after getting the keys during the robbery. The car was found about 3 miles from the bank.
DeWitt County Assistant State's Attorney Darrell Price said Allspach has been identified as the man who allegedly entered the bank while wearing a ski mask, displayed a handgun, and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no customers in the bank and no one was hurt.
Price said McKissick was the alleged get-away car driver.
Price said he would be filing charges next week after receiving the police reports.
DeWitt County Chief Deputy Mike Walker declined to reveal how police were led to the men. Lake Fork is about 17 miles west of Kenney on U.S. 54 in Logan County.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information to call 935-3196.
