Calumet City man arrested for home invasion in Urbana

URBANA — A Calumet City man is being held at the Champaign County jail on $50,000 bond following his arrest over the weekend for home invasion.

Jeremi Devon Bobo, 24, who listed an address in Calumet City, pleaded innocent on Monday to felony home invasion, criminal trespass to a residence and unlawful restraint.

Judge Richard Klaus set Bobo’s next court appearance for Dec. 19.

According to an Urbana police report, Bobo had been dating a 23-year-old Urbana woman and had some personal items at her home in the 800 block of Oakland Avenue.

When Bobo went to the woman’s home to retrieve the items and began knocking on her door at 1 p.m., the woman did not allow him inside the home.

Police said Bobo remained waiting outside the woman’s door when she came walking out of the home at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. As she began to leave the building, police said he shoved the door and hit her with it.

When the woman tried to run away from Bobo, police said, he grabbed her by the arm.

The woman then told Bobo she was going to call police, so he left.

Police found Bobo in his car at Berkley Avenue and Bailey Street in Urbana and arrested him.

Police had no information on whether the woman was injured.
