United Way post means Grey will give up school board presidency

CHAMPAIGN — After being named new president and CEO of the United Way of Champaign County, Sue Grey said she will step down from her role as president of the Champaign school board.

Grey will remain on the school board, she said Friday, and she's not yet sure who will take over the role as president, as the board hasn't yet discussed it.

The school board has a regularly scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Mellon Administrative Center, 703 S. New St., C.

The school board's policy, available on the school district's website, says if the president "vacates the office," the board's vice president will assume his or her duties.

The current school board vice president is Stig Lanesskog.

Grey was elected by the board to be president in April 2011.
