Water main work to affect Airport Road traffic

URBANA — Airport Road in Urbana will be closed to through traffic for about two days while a new water main is installed.

Airport Road will be closed to all through traffic east of Cunningham Avenue beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday for the installation of a new water distribution main at Cunningham Avenue and Airport Road.

Eastbound traffic on Airport Road will be detoured north on Cunningham to Oaks Road, east on Oaks Road to High Cross Road and south on High Cross Road to Airport Road during the closure.

Westbound traffic will be detoured north on High Cross Road to Oaks Road, west on Oaks Road to Cunningham and south on Cunningham to Airport Road.

Businesses and residents along Airport Road will continue to have access to their properties during the project.

The road is scheduled to reopen to through traffic at 4 p.m. Friday.
