Food donations sought for holidays

CHAMPAIGN — Can you spare some food for a hungry family?

The Glory Center, the Champaign mayor's office and local businesses are once again teaming to provide the Meet-the-Need Thanksgiving Giveaway, in which bags of food and turkeys are given away to needy families.

Non-perishable food donations are needed to help fill those bags. Donations can be dropped off at any Family Video location in Champaign-Urbana.

Last year, more than 400 people picked up turkeys and grocery sacks for their families, according to the Glory Center, a faith ministry in Champaign.

Also involved with the event are the Prime Sole shoe store in Champaign and WCZQ-FM in Decatur, the church says.

The food giveaway will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 20 at the Glory Center, 606 N. Country Fair Drive.
