Man charged in drug case

URBANA — A Champaign man who was allegedly selling cocaine in that city has been criminally charged.

Shawndrell Taylor, 31, who listed an address in the 400 block of East Church Street, appeared in Champaign County Circuit Court on Thursday on a warrant issued earlier this month, charging him with three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

The charges allege that Taylor sold small amounts of cocaine to a Champaign police informant on May 11, May 18, and Oct. 10 and that the purchases were recorded on videotape.

Taylor is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond and is due back in court Dec. 18.

If convicted of the felonies, he faces penalties ranging from probation to three to seven years in prison.
