Truck driver injured, ticketed in I-57 crash

TUSCOLA — A truck driver was injured and ticketed when the truck he was driving crashed on Interstate 57 early Monday.

According to state police, Jerry E. Baker, 60, of Rosamond, was driving a tractor-trailer truck north on I-57 just north of the Tuscola/U.S. 36 exit when he lost control at 5:19 a.m. Monday. He hit a concrete median barrier, went through the grass median, hit a guardrail and went across the southbound lanes, hitting a guardrail there as well.

Baker was injured and taken to Sarah Bush Lincoln health center in Mattoon, which would not release information on his condition.

He was ticketed for improper lane usage.
